The book is finished! For me that means I have finished a long project. Faith Love and Hypnosis is my story about the stroke and my recovery. I was thinking about why it took me so long to write my story. I think it is because as a hypnotist I listen to people’s stories everyday, and people think they know me because we talk about life. But in Faith Love and Hypnosis I feel exposed. All my fears and limitations exposed. It feels a bit like I have turned myself inside out.
Why would I opt to write something so personal?
It felt like I was pushed to write the story. There was not a person pushing me but a knowing. I was meant to write this story. It would be nice to believe that it will help at least one person. Maybe it was the last step in my healing.
The book isn’t really about a stroke as much as it is about how I moved through my dismal swamp. It may be physical like it was for me but it could be mental, emotional, or spiritual. We all hit these speed bump in life and we must dig deep to find the resilience inside. If we find a way to bounce back we grow and become better.
For me there was no medical treatment available because my stroke was caused by a rare brain disease. Friends brought me many techniques and I had hypnosis as a career and a strong support system and an even stronger faith. The book is really a reference book you will get a idea about what choices you have to help you stay or become healthy.
Faith Love and Hypnosis was my treatment. My hope is that the book will help caregivers look at patient’s differently and that everyone will work to make the resilience inside of them grow so they are prepared if they ever hit one of those speed bumps. If you have a desire to become more resilient purchase the book on my website www.janegovoni.com , on Balboa Press, Barnes and Noble, or Amazon. If you order it on my site I will personalize it.
